If one car gets 25mpg and you pay £1.65 per litre, this translates to £3,000 annually. On the other hand, if you are operating a fuel-efficient car that gets 50mg at £1.65 per litre, you are spending only £1,500 annually. Therefore, this example shows you are making significant savings and getting better mileage. 

How are fuel-efficiency ratings determined?

Fuel-efficiency ratings are determined using the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure), designed to identify how economically a vehicle will perform in the real world by putting it to the test under a set of simulated, carefully monitored conditions.
